Visser's Christmas Commercial

Well, we finally took the plunge. Visser's Florist has filmed its first TV commercial. Here's the link: Commercial

It turned out really well. We really wanted to highlight the fact that we are a real florist in Orange County and not one of those "send flowers in a box" guys. Also, we were recently voted Best Orange County Florist by the readers of the Orange County Register and we think that is a big deal.

Anyway, take a look and tell us what you think. And by the way, the store is all decked out for Christmas so come in and take a look.

Orange County's Best Florist

Wow! All of us at Visser's Florist are so proud. The Orange County Register, in its annual "The Best of Orange County" edition, named Visser's Florist the best in Orange County. Read about it here.

Thank you to all of our customers that voted for us.

Baby shower flowers

This is pretty cute. A lady came in to Visser's and said she was having a baby shower. Her theme for the party was Alice in Wonderland. She wanted an arrangement that was whimsical, but not too expensive.

This is what we came up with.

Corsage with bling

Well, Mother's Day is behind us, so it's time to turn our attention to Proms. For Visser's, that means hundreds and hundreds of Corsages and boutonnieres.

For us, it's a really fun time of year because the kids all look so happy when they are picking up their flowers.

I had to share this picture with you. It's the ultimate corsage. It goes on the girl's arm. It is made from Cymbidium and Dendrobium orchids, Peacock feathers and pearls. Wow!

Mother's Day

How did mother’s day begin? Well, according to the library of congress, the ancient Greeks used to celebrate in the Spring honoring the mother of several gods, Rhea. Then in the 1600s the English picked up the holiday and called it Mothering Sunday.

In the U.S., the holiday was officially started in 1914, as the second Sunday in May. At first, it was more of a holiday to go to church, but gradually, flowers and cards worked their way into the program. Thank goodness for that.

At Visser’s Florist & Greenhouses, Mother’s Day is one of the two big floral holidays, with Valentine’s Day being the other. Flowers are a wonderful way to show your mom that you care, even if you can’t be there in person. They are very inexpensive, and the joy that they bring to mom is priceless.

Next Sunday is Mother’s Day. Show mom you are thinking about her. Call Visser’s today at (714) 772-9900 or go to www.VISSERSFLOWERS.COM .

Flowers Anaheim State of the City

Once again Visser's Florist was asked by the Anaheim Chamber of Commerce to do the flowers for Mayor Pringle's State of the City Luncheon. Of course, we jumped at the opportunity. More than 1,000 of Anaheim's community leaders and business people attended the event. The mayor laid out the priorities for his last year in office, which included starting the high speed rail project which will run from Anaheim to San Francisco, and making the City of Anaheim more responsive to its residents.

At Visser's, we are really proud to be part of such a progressive community. Oh, and by the way, our flowers were stunning, and in my humble opinion, were the highlight of the event.

Little Ted's Wedding

So, a lot of you (actually one or two) have wondered where I have been the last week. CANCUN is the answer. Little Ted finally tied the knot. He and Sarah got married on the beach and it was wonderful. All of us at Visser's Florist were a little disappointed that we couldn't do the flowers, but obviously we are very happy for him. Here is a pic of Ted, Sarah, me and Cathy and his brother.

More pics will follow.
