Corsage with bling

Well, Mother's Day is behind us, so it's time to turn our attention to Proms. For Visser's, that means hundreds and hundreds of Corsages and boutonnieres.

For us, it's a really fun time of year because the kids all look so happy when they are picking up their flowers.

I had to share this picture with you. It's the ultimate corsage. It goes on the girl's arm. It is made from Cymbidium and Dendrobium orchids, Peacock feathers and pearls. Wow!

Mother's Day

How did mother’s day begin? Well, according to the library of congress, the ancient Greeks used to celebrate in the Spring honoring the mother of several gods, Rhea. Then in the 1600s the English picked up the holiday and called it Mothering Sunday.

In the U.S., the holiday was officially started in 1914, as the second Sunday in May. At first, it was more of a holiday to go to church, but gradually, flowers and cards worked their way into the program. Thank goodness for that.

At Visser’s Florist & Greenhouses, Mother’s Day is one of the two big floral holidays, with Valentine’s Day being the other. Flowers are a wonderful way to show your mom that you care, even if you can’t be there in person. They are very inexpensive, and the joy that they bring to mom is priceless.

Next Sunday is Mother’s Day. Show mom you are thinking about her. Call Visser’s today at (714) 772-9900 or go to www.VISSERSFLOWERS.COM .
